#231 Keep the Child in You Alive
Stay in Fucking Shape
As a parent, if you stay in shape, it allows you to do so much more with your children. SO MUCH MORE. Even if you’ve fallen off the wagon, make that one of the reasons to get back into shape.
I always want to be able to do stuff with my kids. Play basketball, throw the baseball, play volleyball with my daughter, or even try to skateboard.
It is an amazing feeling to be able to do things with your kids as you get older. It’s a different experience. Don’t you want them to remember you hooping with them or throwing the baseball around? I can’t put into words how much it means to me.
If you’re a young parent and out of shape, get your ass in gear NOW. Get going now before they’re more mobile. Promise you that you won’t regret it.
Ways to Keep the Child Alive
There’s a laundry list of ways to keep the child inside of you alive, but daydreaming is a go-to for me.
Daydreaming allows you to be most creative. Maybe daydreaming is your outlet to cook up new ideas. It’s imperative that you don’t lose this. Doing so will kill your creativity.
Don’t let society dictate what is and what isn’t possible. Don’t be afraid to go against the grain. Don’t be afraid to stand out or look weird.
Personally, I’ve never operated this way, and I encourage you to do the same.
Stay in the Game
Set up your rules and regulations for your day-to-day operations. These disciplines will keep you feeling and looking younger. Staying in shape, sharpening your mind with personal development material, and daydreaming will all keep the child inside you alive.
Maybe you’ve already thought of this. If you have, that’s great! But if you haven’t, ask yourself: “How can I keep the child inside me alive?”
